Data, pricing and risk modeling
Developing in-country technical support services
To build locally-owned and scalable product solutions, agricultural insurance market players need to be able to draw on local support. Well-developed, in-country technical capacity can lay the foundations for successful markets. This generates ownership and trust in local markets, supplying a competitive talent pool to ensure the long-term sustainability of agricultural insurance programmes.
Local solutions for long-term offerings
The Financial Resilience in Agriculture Initiative is helping countries build their local services and talent pool. Technical institutions in participating countries are supported to develop in-country market support services. They are building local competencies around creating and updating climate and agricultural data, establishing product pricing and effectively modelling risk.
Working with local meteorological agencies, agriculture research institutes and statistics bureaux, the Initiative is developing tailored capacity-building programmes. To ensure that new technical services are offered in the long term, Financial Resilience in Agriculture is helping institutions build new business models around their offerings and services, creating a sustainable offer that can support market development for years to come.
