We are thrilled to announce an exclusive collaboration between UNDP and ILO, in partnership with Africa College for Insurance and Social Protection (ACISP), to offer a groundbreaking training program on inclusive insurance for distribution channels in Tanzania.

1. Objective of the Training

In today's dynamic insurance landscape, inclusive insurance stands as a powerful instrument for driving social and economic progress. Through this program, participants are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of inclusive insurance concepts and product types, exploring their impact on environmental, social, and governance agendas, and their alignment with Sustainable Development Goals. Delving into the compelling business case for distributing inclusive insurance, participants will learn to overcome distribution challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach, ensuring successful implementation, and fostering long-term growth and impact within their organizations and communities. 

Key Training Highlights: 

  • Dates: 27th May to 29th May, 2024 
  • Ten sessions covering diverse topics through interactive sessions combining lectures, group work, and practical exercises.  
  • Deep Dive into Inclusive Insurance: Gain a comprehensive understanding of inclusive insurance concepts and the diverse range of product types available in the market. 
  • Impactful Sustainability: Explore how inclusive insurance contributes to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agendas, driving progress towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 
  • Business Case Exploration: Delve into the compelling business case for distributing inclusive insurance within your organization, unlocking new avenues for growth and impact. 
  • Overcoming Distribution Challenges: Identify and overcome the unique challenges associated with distributing inclusive insurance products to ensure successful implementation. 
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Learn strategies for maintaining a customer-centric focus throughout the distribution process, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. 

2. Scholarship Opportunity  

UNDP, through its Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF), is delighted to offer a 50% scholarship exclusively for insurance distribution channel practitioners committed to promoting inclusive insurance products. 

3. Scope

  • 50% scholarships available to cover the costs of the programme for selected insurance practitioners in Tanzania who already registered for the course.

  • We encourage everybody with the relevant background to apply (See eligibility criteria). Scholarships will be granted to an equal number of men and women.  
  • We are seeking candidates currently employed in organizations, particularly those within distribution channels, though not exclusively, who are eager to enhance and refine their inclusive insurance practices. 

4. Eligibility

  • Insurance practitioners working in Tanzania, particularly those within distribution channels, though not exclusively. 
  • Relevant experience and progression in the insurance industry.  
  • Professional duties related to microinsurance or inclusive insurance/with a clear rationale of how the training will support the function.  
  • Interest and engagement in learning more about the insurance industry to make greater contributions. 
  • In a position to become inclusive insurance champions within their organization.  
  • Endorsement from employer organization supporting full participation in training. 

5. Considerations

  • Scholarship covers 50% of training tuition provided by the training institute. 
  • The Scholarship will be suspended if the recipient fails to complete a module.  
  • The scholarship funds will be transferred directly to the training institute. Disbursements will be made contingent upon confirmation of the scholarship recipient's approved course registration and their commitment to transferring 50% of the remaining tuition to the training institute.

You will be requested to share documentation to support your application: 

  • Proof of identification
  • Relevant Education certificates and at least three insurance certifications of similar nature.

7. Selection Process

  • Only complete applications submitted through the link provided in <6. Application Procedure> will be considered.  
  • During the selection process, candidates may be requested to attend an interview with the Selection Committee to share more about their background, their current activities, or future expectations.  
  • Candidates will be notified of the results via email.
